Nyjah Huston: A Brief Biography

Nyjah Huston is known as an American professional skateboarder and holds the title of one of the greatest skateboarders, but also sparked controversy in the skateboarding scene. He was born on November 30, 1994, in Davis, California, and delved into skateboarding at a very young age. The hobby soon turned into a passion.

Luckily, Nyjah had a supportive household, and his parents did everything they could to foster his interest in skateboarding. He competed in his first skateboarding competition at seven and never looked back. He won the Tampa Am at ten and turned professional at 12 with considerable fame already attached to him.

Nyjah continued winning competitions; he bagged wins at major contests like the X Games Tour and Street League Skateboarding. His technical skills and ability to face challenges head-on gave him a push. Nyjah has consistently performed exceptionally under pressure and is recognized for it.

Unfortunately, in 2009 Njah was arrested. The allegations that he faced were for possession of marijuana. This legal setback led his sponsor, Element Skateboards, to drop him in 2011. However, Nyjah bounced back despite these challenges and continued working in the skateboarding community while inspiring younger people.

He has used his platform to raise awareness for social and environmental issues and has worked with organizations such as Skateistan and the Rainforest Foundation.

In addition to his skateboarding career, Nyjah is also a successful entrepreneur. He founded his skateboarding company, Nyjah Huston Skateboards, in 2016 and has since expanded his brand to include clothing, accessories, and energy drinks. Most of the sold items are custom designed by him and are liked by fans worldwide.

Nyjah’s success and influence have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. He has been named Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year twice and has won several ESPY Awards for Best Male Action Sports Athlete. He has also been featured in several documentaries and films, including the 2021 skateboarding documentary with Netflix.

Nyjah is a philanthropist off the skateboard who uses his platform to impact the world positively. He is passionate about giving back to his community and has supported numerous charities and causes. One of his biggest measures is the founding of the Nyjah Huston Irie Kids Foundation

The foundation focuses on providing educational and recreational resources to underprivileged children and families in Jamaica. The foundation has supported various initiatives, including constructing a skatepark in Kingston, Jamaica, and providing school supplies and uniforms to needy children.

Nyjah has also been involved in various charity events and initiatives, such as the Skate for a Cause event, which raises funds for at-risk youth programs, and the Boards + Bands auction, which raises funds for the Tony Hawk Foundation.
