Rob Dyrdek: A Brief Biography

Rob Dyrdek was born in Kettering, Ohio, on June 28, 1974. While raised in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio, he discovered his passion for skateboarding at a young age. His skill led him to participate in local skateboarding contests at just 12 years. 

Dyrdek’s passion for the sport drove him to make the big move and move to California in the early 1990s. In a short time in California, he was recognized for his skill and unique style on the board. This led to sponsorships, making him a sponsored skateboarder for many skateboard brands.  

While giving his passion enough time, Dyrdek also juggled a business along with it. His entrepreneurial spirit was such that he started his own company at 16 years old called Alien Workshop. 

This was a hit and became popular in the community. Following suit, Dyrdek founded several other companies, including the Street League Skateboarding competition series in 2010.

In 2006, Dyrdek began expanding his horizons. Alongside his best friend Christopher Big, Dyrdek starred in an MTV reality series titled Bob & Big. The show followed the two friends as they went about their daily lives and quickly became a hit with viewers. The show ran for three seasons and helped to cement Dyrdek’s status as a pop culture icon. 

After “Rob & Big” ended, Dyrdek starred in several other MTV reality shows, including “Rob Dyrdek’sDyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” which followed him as he built his dream skateboarding facility in Los Angeles. The show featured several celebrity guests, including Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, and Ludacris.

However, Dyrdek’s work in the entertainment industry was wider than MTV. He appeared in films like “Street Dreams” and “Righteous Kill.” “Ridiculousness,” a TV show, was hosted and created by him, too. The show features viral videos and commentary from Dyrdek and his co-hosts and has become a popular staple of MTV’sMTV’s programming lineup.

In addition to his television and entrepreneurial pursuits, Dyrdek has been involved in several philanthropic initiatives. He founded the Rob Dyrdek Foundation in 2003, dedicated to building skateboarding parks and helping underprivileged youth. 

He has also been involved in several other charitable organizations, including the Make-A-Wish and Tony Hawk Foundation.

Throughout his career, Dyrdek has won numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to skateboarding and entertainment. He has been inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame and has received several awards for his philanthropic work. 

Dyrdek is widely recognized as one of the most influential and famous figures in the skateboarding community and has helped to shape the sport into what it is today. 

He has been married to his wife, Bryiana Noelle Flores, since 2015. The couple first met in 2013 at a toy fair and began dating soon after. They got engaged in April 2015 and married later that year in September. 

The couple has two children together, a son named Kodah Dash and a daughter named Nala Ryan. In addition to his immediate family, Dyrdek has two siblings, Denise and Robby, and has spoken publicly about the importance of family in his life.

Dyrdek is a multi-talented entrepreneur, television personality, and former professional skateboarder who has impacted the sport through multiple mediums. He continues to be an inspiration to younger athletes.
